Biography

Producer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Tyson Kraft picked up the drums at age six. Exposed to an eclectic palette of music from a young age, music quickly became central to the Australian-born artist of mixed descent. Drawing on futuristic waves of pop, lush and nostalgic electronica, Kraft’s production pays homage to the analog-rich, electronic sounds discovered throughout the 20th century, while combining contemporary cuts of R&B with shimmering, warm and stirring vocals. Kraft’s songwriting verges on the extremes of introspection and reveals a softer side to his outgoing persona. A passionate educator at one of Australia’s leading universities, Kraft’s music offers a unique contrast to the personality conveyed during lectures given to his prized students. This year has seen Kraft pick up considerable momentum, clocking over a million streams across online platforms. Recognising this, The Kite String Tangle signed Kraft’s anthemic single, ‘Let You Go’ to Exist Recordings. Soon after, national tastemaker, triple j recognised Kraft as a finalist in the RÜFÜS DU SOL national remix competition, for his genre-bending reimagining of the dance trio’s track, ‘New Sky’. In 2019, Kraft revealed he is also the face behind Harla, a newly emerged house music project. Kraft has since joined forces with Atlantic/Warner Music's dance imprint, Parametric Records, following the breakout success of his debut single, ‘When You’re Lonely’.
