Biography
The RSA Band remained active from July 1992 to May 2003. Between this time, they officially released nine albums containing 104 singles mainly sold to their loyal fanbase across the Pacific and the world on casette tapes, CDs and VHS videos. In 1993, Hemi Junior Solomona and Tatiana Investment Managing Director Afoa Amituana'i Faleulu Mauli founded the RSA Band with their relatives and college mates. Barney Voorwinden, Jason Malietoa, Aki Galumalemana, Pedro Young, Paul Ah Kuoi, Ati Laulu, Victor Keil, and Helen Auelua Lauvai were among the first members of the RSA Band. The band of outstanding homegrown musicians, based in Samoa, frequently performed LIVE at the famed RSA Nightclub in the heart of Apia City, where they drew large crowds and won the hearts of thousands of locals and tourists. While the nightclub was rocking downstairs, the band toiled away upstairs at the Tatiana Recording Studio, creating immortal hits night and day. It was by their fourth album "Samoan Favorite Songs" when the RSA Band recruited a young and ambitious Tavita So'onalole who went on to become the voice behind many of the legendary Samoan songs of the RSA Band such as "Taute", "Ao Punitia Ai Le La" and "Tama Samoa (Manu Samoa Anthem)". The RSA Band captures the true essence of Samoan energy and culture through many of their timeless classics and is considered to be one of the greatest Samoan bands of all time.
