Biography

Andreas Östberg brought School of Rock to Mexico in 2009 and has since seen former students such as Serbia, Sofia Reyes, Luisa Vox, Humbe, Mari Segura, Valeria Canavati and Efelante develop into artists.
In 2013 he launched one of the first interview podcasts Hábitat in Mexico where he mainly interviewed musicians and artists. In 2015 he launched the podcast Dos Nombres Comunes together with artist José Madero and they have since reached a big audience in Latin America.
Andreas has always been writing songs, but up until now he has never published any music under his own name. Some of his work has been published on albums by José Madero.
Always Our Name is his debut as a singer-songwriter and the song was composed as a tribute to his late father, with whom he’d had a difficult relationship for years and a couple of years before his father’s passing they had managed to reconcile. The pandemic made it impossible for Andreas to spend the final days with his father and assist the funeral. The song is about remembering childhood, drifting apart and making amends. The music to the song came about while Andreas was teaching his daughter guitar chords and how to put a melody over a progression. They both recognized the melody had something and Andreas, who had wanted to write a song about his father started working on the lyrics the next day. The song is influenced by The Beatles and Oasis and was produced by fLIP Tamez.
