So what is the past of The Mountain King? From the ashes of the former Soviet Republic, raised and settled in Western Germany, Eric McQueen was inspired by heavy classical music from Grieg to Beethoven but only equipped with the musical experience from the 1980s onwards, this project aimed to be skeptical in everything they got their hands on and to combine a half life of creative influences. Mixing genres like stoner doom, electronica, singer-songwriter, ambient, avantgarde, post rock, drone, shoegaze and black metal, it is foremost the goal of The Mountain King to find similarities in all rather than differences but still to use the latter. In 2020, with the psychedelic Eastern Drone Doom album “Wicked Zen”, Frank Grimbarth joined the project with his heavy guitar riffs, outerworldly melodies and blatant shreds.
