Matahara is the solo project helmed by Marissa Yudinar - an independent artist from Jakarta, currently living in Melbourne. The 23-year-old artist creates forward-thinking bedroom pop that lives in a world of its own and gives light and warmth to everyone around her. On March 19, 2021, Matahara released her debut EP 'Triple Alliteration' independently, to strong support from triple j Unearthed, local publications and community radio. The 4-track EP recorded in bedrooms across Melbourne showcases Matahara’s expressive songwriting alongside innovative production that blends multiple genres in a way truly unique to Matahara. Fast forward to 2023, Matahara has shared her sophomore EP, 'Oscillating In Imaginary Butterflies'. A five-track collection of progressive bedroom pop, with singles including 'Side', 'Dial Me Up', and 'I Ain't Trying'. 'Oscillating In Imaginary Butterflies' has seen Matahara earn adds to rotation on triple j, FBi, SYN, plus airplay across community radio stations nation-wide, as well as gracing the covers of global streaming playlists. She was named triple j’s Unearthed Feature Artist, FBi Radio’s Independent Artist of the Week and sold out her single launch for lead single ‘Side’.
