Biography

Starting out on violin, (fiddle-folk huge in the rural area of Dalecarlia where Peter grew up) at 10 he picked up guitar, enabling him to write his own songs. Mixing those up with current hits & old 60's pop he entertained parties & pubs. At 15 he met Björn Yttling. Taking the cue from madchester, indie, lo-fi and 70's/80's new wave they started the first of many bands together eventually of course leading to the formation of Peter Bjorn and John in 2000 with John Eriksson. First solo-lp The Last Tycoon (2008) was really a bunch of demos that he later regretted releasing but it made him tour Europe & the states and learn how to handle intimate soloshows. Tutankamon (2009) was a project together with Adam Olenius of Shout Out Louds and Daniel Värjö of The Concretes. After that came acclaimed albums in his mothertounge; I Spåren Av Tåren (2010), Pyramiden (2012) and 40 (2017), seeing him working with different producers, musicians & influences from soul/R'n'B, rockabilly, country, punk, disco, hip-hop, afrobeat, tropicalia & the swedish ballad-tradition with lyrics ranging from culture, history, religion & politics to the very personal; dark humor speckled on top. Again a collaboration, this time with swedish singer-songwriter David Shutrick, En åldrande befolkning is a melancholy melodic folkpop confection about aging, parenthood, anxiety and the overall state of the planet. The mini-album will be fleshed out this fall with 3 added tracks as a full-length-release.
