Biography
Newcastle's own reggae-fusion pioneers, The Appointments are a unique melting pot of influences. Distilling indie rock, pop, blues, and psychedelic sensibilities through reggae and Latin rhythms, 2023 will see the band release their debut EP, along with multiple East Coast tours including The Gum Ball. Brothers Rhys (Vocals, Guitar) and Eli Love (Drums, Vocals) have shared a lifelong musical connection, and are joined by Kurt Speirs (Bass) and Duncan Brown (Percussion, Keys) in the jam sessions that become the band’s catalogue, all recorded in the band's former share-house. Fans of Bob Marley, Ocean Alley, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Ben Harper, The Police and Slightly Stoopid will find their new favourite band in The Appointments. The band have shared the stage with @Crocodylus, The Delta Riggs, Manalion, The Rions, & Jaguar Jonze, as well as roots acts, 19-Twenty, Russell Morris, and Piper Butcher. Reviews: Lu Hill (Triple J) – ‘Outlaw’ – 4.5/ 5 Stars: ‘Outlaw is a daydream of a track and forget where I am everytime I listen to it. Those bendy guitars, congas, the shakers, the little cymbal bells. It gives me ‘hotel California’ vibes and I’m here for it.’ Roadie Music Mag (Brazil) – ‘Go There’: ‘The funky-reggae-rock unfolds melodically in commendable power, yielding one of the great releases of this year. It’s a firecracker!’ Dave Ruby Howe (Triple J) – ‘You’re Welcome’ - 4/5 Stars: ‘They’ve turned up the heat on this one!’ theappointmentsband@gmail.com
