Biography
The music industry looms with temptations of pride, alcohol and depression. Having been called out of that darkness, Illuminate is here to share his personal experiences to bring others into the same wonderful light. Nathan Barlett was born with the odds stacked against him as both parents battled drug addiction and he got caught up in the life of the streets. He began rapping as a teenager and what first started as a way to keep up with the homies turned out to be a powerful outlet for creative expression. He recorded his first album at 17 years old under the moniker Nasty Nate. He spent several years building a career in the rap game and working with artists like Fabolous, The Game, Snoop Dogg and E-40, but walked away from music after a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. A few years later, he got back into music under the new identity of Illuminate where he seeks to bring his listeners the same hope and love that changed his life.
