In "Dark Side" with the lyric "I'm weak minded - give 'em candy, bread and watch them weep," I allude to the Latin satirical poet, Juvenal's: panem et circenses (bread and circuses). My alter-ego MISSY Shapeshifts between a confused and impulsive citizen of a future dystopia & and dark political figure generating public approval with diversion, distraction or base needs. "Bread, candy & a show." Tapping into the new, algorithm-driven social and political apathy with an archaic reference. x
