Biography

A Lazarus Soul are 3 aul fellas from Dublin & a young one from France. The first 3 albums, “ALSRecord “(2001), “Graveyard of Burnt Out Cars” (2007), “Through a Window in the Sunshine Room” (2011) had revolving cast of musicians but Julie Bienvenu, Joe Chester, Anton Hegarty & Brian Brannigan has endured for over a decade. Together they released “Last of the Analogue Age” in late 2014 which was made Irish album of the year by many & included in Tom Dunne’s Sunday Times’ 100 Irish Albums to Love. 2019 saw the release of their seminal fifth album, “The D They Put Between The R & L” .With a more Irish folk bent than its post punk predecessors, it was an album the nation took to its heart. Actors Cillian Murphy & Craig Charles showed their appreciation for the band by playing tracks on their BBC 6 radio shows. The album’s second single, Long Balconies, a tale of failed regeneration in Ireland, seemed to capture the zeitgeist of a country struggling to house its citizens & became an anthem of sorts for the band. The legendary Christy Moore covered their poignant ballad, Lemon 7s & made it a staple in his live repertoire.
