Forever I Wait is an emotional journey from the insecurity and desire of Pure Heart (co-produced by Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack) that twists through the predatory taunts of Hunt and comes to rest in the serene acceptance of Rain. In the long gap between albums Topley Bird has remained a magnetic and enduring presence with "Sandpaper Kisses" from the Mercury nominated Quixotic inspiring interpolations by The Weeknd (The Birds Part 2) and Steven Marley (You're Gonna Leave). 2012 brought an indelible appearance on Clark's Iradelphic and in 2013 when asked to cover The XX's Crystalised MTB slowed it down to a warm disco groove and invited her old friend Mark Lanegan and new friends Warpaint to shine in the new light.
