Biography
Multi-instrumentalist Melle captures the magic of music with honest and organic sounding songs. With big passion he sings about love and loss, using memorable melodies and personal lyrics, often with a consoling message. Melle’s music can be described as indie-pop or indie-folk. His repertoire varies from small, acoustic ballads, influenced by Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens, to energetic pop songs sounding like Sam Fender and Coldplay. He has a huge collection of unusual instruments consisting of a tzouras, balalaika, theremin, taishogoto, zither and many more. He believes that real, analog instruments always bring way more character to a song than digital sounds. Melle defines his sound in his brand new single ‘Old Summers’. It’s a personal story about nostalgic childhood memories and making the most of life. Melle’s debut EP 'Y' was released in January 2020, just after he won the 'Nobel Award Leiden'. Later that year all songs from his second EP ‘Little Life’ got national airplay and ‘On The Road’ made it into Spotify’s Viral 50 NL charts. Melle won the ‘Mooie Noten’ award in Amsterdam the following year, just before releasing his hit single ‘Run Run’. It was added to playlist rotation on Veronica and Radio 2 and was streamed over 400.000 times. Run Run also reached the nr. 1 spot in Radio 2’s ‘V15’ hitlist, just like his former single 'Can't Come Home'.
