Biography
Boasting perhaps the wittiest wordplay of this era, the world of STREET LIGHT is unique and immersive. Widely acclaimed for his lyrical prowess and versatility, his playful yet nuanced delivery nearly demands a double-take. Hailing from Detroit, MI, STREET’s gritty inflection and smooth cadence is the perfect lens to capture his often-paradoxical view of the world. Narrating from within the heat of the moment, the melodic narrative can be sobering, if not leaving one shell-shocked. Toting the fine lines and grey area between hope and despair, the 27 year old writer has been called a master poet without equal in his genre. Still, even after breaking world records (Longest Continuous Freestyle & Longest Marathon Rapping in 2012) and winning the largest rap contest ever held (Funk Volume’s DFUOB 5 in 2013), his musical growth seems to be the most impressive thing about his trajectory. Drawing early comparisons to the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Andre 3000, and Royce Da 5'9, STREET LIGHT has quickly developed a vocal distinction and musicality all his own. A bonafide wordsmith, his catalog is colored with expansive worlds, an ever-changing series of flows, and a plethora of cadences, all over awe-inspiring soundscapes that are often dreamlike, melodious, and in the case of much of his work— haunting. STREET LIGHT's upcoming album "Shake The Heavens" is set for summer 2019.
