Biography
United by a shared love of the attitude, aesthetic, and music of classic rock and roll, Brisbane’s Port Royal have been making waves in Australian music scene since mid-2015 with a mind-melting mix of electric live performances and studio gold. An orgiastic blend of iconic 70s rock influences complemented by contemporary and relatable lyrics makes for an unmistakably catchy sound which will have you singing along with every chorus. Their influences include the likes of The Rolling Stones bluesy charismatic rock roots mixed with the melodic and soulful lyricism of The Beatles, The Doors & The Kinks. Their 2017 single ‘Get Heavy’ which reached #2 on the Brisbane 4ZZZ Hottest 100, contrasts their high energy, youthful rock & roll sound against their more softer side shown on their newest tracks ‘Lucy’ & ‘One of a Kind’ which appear on their 2018 sophomore EP Love, Passion, Satisfaction. A collection of unconventional music videos have also seen the band gain credibility on a national scale after their early 2018 single ‘Rock & Roll is Dead’ received scheduled rage and MTV Australia play over the month of its release. On the back of these released the band has gone on to support major international acts such as The Dead Kennedys (US) Supersuckers (US), Wolfmother (AUS), The Delta Riggs (AUS) and The Jungle Giants (AUS). Port Royal are now readier than ever to take on the next stage of development with their romantic pop-rock swinger 'Ain't Got You'.
