Biography
Kultiration is a Swedish reggae band. True enough. Kultiration has also been called a sound of their own, a melting pot of inspiration where you will find sounds from swedish folk music, europan folk music, jazz, pop… Kultirations first release “Om Gaia” was released in 2004, Swedish folk music and roots reggae seriously blended together for the first time since the days of Peps Persson. Among the popular songs of this album are ”Ur Jord”, ”Propaganda”, ”Sparkar och Slag” and ”Babylon Faller”. Kultirations second album “Grogrund” was released in 2005 and the band took their sound further, maturing into a more solid form. This album contains many of the fans favourite songs, like ”En timme kvar att leva”, ”Melomel”, ”Under Snön” and ”Kupade Händer”. In 2007 the band released the album ”Döden Föder”. The sound on this album was bigger, wetter, dubbier and the lyrics were deeper and more spiritual. Profilic songs on this album are ”Harmoni”, ”Rikemansgetto”, ”Ett steg utanför” and ”Blickar”. In 2009 the band released the self tiltled album ”Kultiration”. The band streched their sound to the limits and many fans expressed (in a positive tone) that this was hardly folky roots reggae anymore, but still Kultiration to the bone. Songs like ”Seen and Gone”, ”Lejoninna”, ”Constant Waterfall”, ”Agnaye Swaahaa” and ”Armerika” are worth mentioning. Members of Kultiration are today active in many other constellations - Markandeya, Minük, Räfven, ÁRA - to mention but a few.
