Biography

SHIMA is a singer, producer, and engineer from Tokyo, Japan. With a Japanese mother and an American father, SHIMA belongs to two cultures and writes lyrics in both English and Japanese. SHIMA began making music on GarageBand in high school when she received her father’s old MacBook. She later studied Music Engineering and Computer Engineering in college, and worked as a software engineer for about two years before quitting to pursue music full-time. SHIMA is currently based in Los Angeles. アメリカ・アトランタ生まれ、東京育ちのバイリンガル。 幼少期よりピアノ、バレエを習い、母親の影響で歌にも興味を持つ。 アメリカンスクール在学中にスカウトされ、２年間レッスンや歌手活動を行った後、アメリカの大学でミュージックエンジニアリングおよびコンピューターエンジニアリングを学び、卒業後ソフトウェアエンジニアとして働きながら、音楽制作活動を本格的に開始。 現在はプロデューサーとして、日本語と英語の両方を駆使した作詞・作曲はもちろん、アレンジ・ミキシング・マスタリングまで全てを自分で行う。
