Biography
Growing up in the culturally rich Swedish suburbs of Gothenburg in the 90s, Andreas "Tymedust" Borgelind found himself surrounded by music at an early age, augmented by a strong desire to follow in his pianist mother's artistic footsteps. After spending years as the drummer for heavy metal outfit Overworld, a transformative audial encounter with lo-fi hip-hop legend Nujabes in 2018 awakened something deeper within him, and his journey as a solo artist began. Adding guitar, bass and vocals to his instrumental repertoire, Tymedust creates chillhop with a distinct flavor of melancholy, boasting a wide array of influences; including the ambience of Vangelis and the sonic landscapes of Daniel Lanois, while also owing a lot to more contemporary downtempo producers than can reasonably fit within the confines of this biography. It's no wonder, then, that he's released music through prominent labels such as Palpal, Lifted LoFi and GameChops, while also having collaborated with popular artists like Hoffy Beats, Jhove and Endigo. Having spent time on the editorial playlists lofi sleep, lofi meditation, Moonlight Beats and lofi + chill has further boosted Tymedust's audience, and he's showing no signs of slowing down, despite over 20 years in the game. In 2021, Tymedust founded the video game company Tymedust Games, through which he releases visual novels and their accompanying soundtracks. These offerings span a multitude of different musical genres even beyond lo-fi hip-hop.
