Biography
The brothers of Chilean soul singer Pedro Foncea, Felipe and Cote Foncea joined forces to create the rap-metal band, Dracma. Combining distorted guitars, bone-crushing intensity and politically charged rap lyrics, the group has taken Latin America by storm. Propelled by their headline-grabbing performance at Colombia's Festival of Rock, in front of more than one hundred thousand new fans, the group continued to attract global attention with their first international tour, Rock To Pack Y2K, in 2000. They received a Grammy award as "Best Latin alternative rock group" and a MTV Latin America "People's Choice" award. . The Foncea brothers grew up listening to African-American artists including Kool and the Gang, The Parliament-Funkadelics and Earth, Wind and Fire and metal bands including Twisted Sister, Metallica and Panther. Initially playing together in early-90s rock band, De Kiruza, they formed Dracma when the group disbanded in 1992. Since 2001, Dracma has concentrated on playing for university students. After performing for students at the Catholic University in San Joaquin, Chile, they embarked on a tour, Rock To The Patio, during which they performed for free on campuses throughout South America. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
