Biography
three-chord “capo-core” — Coach Phillips is a modular recording/songwriting project from the unceded Duwamish territory of Seattle WA. Initially formed in 2017 as an acoustic duo of vocalists Wade Phillips and Jessica Kim, the band also includes Chet Baughman (drums/saxophone), Joe Oakes (guitars/misc.) and Tom Moskal (bass). Coach Phillips has released one full-length record to date and two EPs, the most recent being ‘Three-Chord Songs, Vol. 1’ released in May 2022. "...in the same sandbox as Hovvdy or the like, breaking bread with old emo tendencies and dipping it in the wine cup of present bedroom pop." - Nathan Lankford / Austin Town Hall "...when it comes to summoning nostalgia, Coach Phillips really hits the nail on the (tape) head." - Nick Brunner / NPR Music Photos by: Sean Collopy Art by: Margaret Hitch since 'Never Is Enough' (2019)
