Biography
A genre-bending, Boston-based progressive metal unit, Native Construct was formed in 2011 by Berklee College of Music grads Robert Edens (vocals), Myles Yang (guitar), Poh Hock Kee (guitar), Max Harchik (bass), and Jake Dick (drums). Employing a heady blend of blistering art-metal, musical theater, jazz, and classical that invokes names like Between The Buried And Me, Mr. Bungle, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Coheed and Cambria, and Dream Theater, the trio laid the groundwork for their debut album between 2011 and 2013, getting together between classes and on weekends. The results of those so-called jam sessions eventually caught the ear of Metal Blade, who signed the group in early 2014 with plans to release their long-gestating debut the following year. The resulting Quiet World, which was produced by the band and recorded in their home studio in Boston (the vocals were recorded with Jamie King at the Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) arrived in April 2015. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
