Ahli is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter/producer with a passion for all things pop, indie, and R&B. With a background in commercial music and a college degree in production, Ahli’s music is both raw and fine-tuned. Their songwriting influences range anywhere from Maggie Rogers to Troye Sivan to Elton John, with a production style that always keeps their music fun, fresh, and interesting. Ahli’s newest EP, “Girls Kissing Girls,” offers a collection of modern indie pop tracks that serve to provide positive representation for queer youth, while simultaneously delivering feel-good, danceable melodies that anyone can enjoy. Their beautifully soulful voice pairs perfectly with their light pop melodies, providing a touching yet joyful soundtrack for coming of age. “We drew this project from different parts of our lives and our styles,” Ahli says. “I don’t think we set out to write just indie or just pop songs, I think because Daphne and I are both queer, we embraced that narrative and part of myself in the lyrics to make these songs queer pop and queer indie songs.” Ahli’s new EP serves as the perfect soundtrack for queer coming of age. Songs such as the title track, “Girls Kissing Girls,” represent queer joy through optimistic lyrical themes and upbeat instrumentation.
