Biography
The self-assurance and easygoing yet precise technique of Snowsa belies the Connecticut rapper's limited experience. Within mere months of writing her earliest material, the artist released "Yank Riddim" (2018), a mellow party cut that went viral and led to a deal with major-label Island. Although she has been deeply into music and poetry since she was a youngster, Snowsa -- also known as Snowprah and Snow La Flurr -- didn't start writing music until early 2018, after she attended college and became known for throwing parties and uploading dance videos. Originally from Bridgeport and based since her teens in New Haven, up the coastline, she made a fast and deep local impression with her third track, the Chill Shump-produced "Yank Riddim." Its video featured a dance demonstration from Gangstalicious, who was killed the previous December. "Freak Like Me" followed in early 2019, but "Yank Riddim" continued to gain popularity and was eventually given wider distribution by Island, who re-released the track as a single and quickly followed it with a version featuring Young M.A. By then, Snowsa landed her first high-profile collaboration with a guest verse on Lykke Li's "Sex Money Feelings Die." ~ Andy Kellman
