Biography

BlaaZé, a Zambian with Indian genes, the pioneer of Independent Rap in India and Zambia, with a VH1 premiere of India’s first Independent Rap Video, ‘In My Father’s Words,’ followed by the cult video, ‘Ban The Crooked Police,’ grew up in Zambia where he resided for over 25 years, before shifting base to India. Awarded MTV's Youth Icon award 2009, for his songs on social issues, BlaaZé picked up on rap, and found his calling, sitting and penning rhymes from the age of 9. In the early 90's BlaaZé produced Zambia's first ever Independent Rap video, Advice 4 Livin. In 2003, BlaaZe got the call from double Oscar and double Grammy Winning Music Composer, A.R.Rahman, with whom he has collaborated and continues to deliver several blockbuster hits, including two songs as a lyricist/rapper on Slumdog Millionaire and Vince Vaughn’s, ‘Couple’s Retreat.’ From the BnB song in Bunty Aur Babli for Amitabh Bachchan, to the BABA Rap for superstar Rajnikanth, BlaaZé has worked on over 100 songs, including writing of the official UN Anthem For Poverty, Pray For Me, Brother, with A.R.Rahman. BlaaZé has also become the world’s first Sanskrit Rapper to rap the entire poem of the Syamala Dandakkam, written by Mahakavi Kalidas, in the 4th century. BlaaZé continues to spread his passion for creating music and art through lyrics, poetry and performance and also teaches The Art Of Creative Writing & Rap - a new initiative to educate and entertain, whilst expressing yourself through Rhythm And Poetry.
