Biography
Starting in 2002, Tip The Van drew influences from rock ‘n roll, ska, pop-punk and indie rock to create their own unique sound. They evolved over the years from a full-fledged 10-piece ska band to a six-piece, all the while featuring the Oliva sisters' vocal harmonies. In their early days, Tip The Van booked and played hundreds of local shows in Connecticut and the surrounding states. They formed a loyal local fanbase and received praise from local media outlets. In 2005 and 2006, Tip The Van was invited to join the Vans Warped Tour to play on the ShiraGirl stage for select midwest dates. In early 2009, Tip The Van saw their years of hard work in the local music scene turn into a successful career. They went on tour across the midwest, northeast and southeast opening for Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. In 2010, they hit the road again for a full summer nationwide run with the Vans Warped Tour and a west-to-east coast independent tour. In April 2011, Tip The Van announced that the band was officially on an indefinite hiatus, citing the desire to pursue individual projects and endeavors as motivation. In 2019, Tip The Van announced two reunion shows and the release of their long-awaited Refuse The Tide EP.
