Biography
Requiem Aeternam was established in Uruguay in 1995. "Emergent" (1st RA song) was recorded by Martín López (Amon Amarth; Opeth; Soen) on drums, Martín Méndez (Opeth) on bass, Pablo Magallanes on guitars & JB Romero on guitars/keyboards/vocals. Eternal (2020 LP) compiles the early recordings. JBRomero is the solo project of JBR. With Fabián Redondo on drums, Marcelo Aguilar on bass & JBR, RA released "Eternally Dying" (1998 LP), pioneering melodic black/death metal in LatAm. "Infamy" video was broadcast by MTV LatAm & Brazil. The "Eternally Tour" (1998-2001) included South America. After publishing "Escritos Prohibidos" (2002 Book), JBR immigrated to the USA. Jointly with Maciej Kupiszewski on bass & Alex Hernández (Immolation) on drums, RA released "Philosopher" (2004 LP): recorded/mixed at BBM in NJ by Pedulla/Venkatesh (Overkill; Anthrax) & mastered in NY by Tom Hutten (Iggy Pop; Foo Fighters). Philosopher's release show was at CBGB in NYC. Having returned Redondo, RA registered "Destiny-Man" (2010 LP), recorded/mixed at B3R in FL by Jim Beeman (Cheap Trick; Jefferson Airplane) & mastered at Morrisound Recordings by Tom Morris (Sepultura; Cannibal Corpse; Death). Having released Emergent (2013 LP), the "Emergent Tour" (2013-16) included South America. RA pioneered "Philosophical Metal," artistic-scientific genre that includes philosophical lyrics & philosophy-driven compositions. Their discography has been published/distributed by various labels worldwide.
