Biography
“Music has the power to break down barriers and is all about breaking rules” says Łukasz (Luke) Drapała singer of the Warsaw based rock band Chemia. The word Chemia means Chemistry. “It is all about exploring and nurturing our musical chemistry and the way it resonates with the audience. Our goal is like the one of the best alchemists – to try to create something extremely special and unique. Often with music it requires creative triggers and some ‘je ne sais quoi’ to help inspire the writing process” explains band founder and guitarist Wojtek “W” Balczun. Since the release of the band’s last album Let Me (2015) produced by Mike Fraser (ACDC/Aerosmith) the band have teamed up with legendary guitarist, artist and producer Andy Taylor (Duran Duran, The Power Station, Reef) to produce their new album Something To Believe In. The band’s first single ‘Modern Times’, released last year , garnered airplay across the globe especially in Germany where the band spent several months in the rock charts. The new album was recorded at London’s Baltic Studios and engineered by Darren Jones, whose credits include working with Stormzy on his platinum-selling single ‘Vossi Bop’. The band’s forthcoming single ‘Angina’ features a string arrangement by former Bush keyboard player and string arranger Sacha Puttnam best known for his film score work as well as his work with hit artists like Sia and Peter Green . Something To Believe In will be released August 2021.
