Biography
The Forest Rangers came together in Charming, California, assembled by producers Bob Thiele, Jr. and Dave Way as the house band for the FX television series Sons of Anarchy, recording originals and covers used as a soundtrack for the popular show. The core of the band, aside from Thiele and engineer Way, are Davey Faragher (bass), Phil Shenale (keyboards), Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar), Matt Chamberlain (drums), and background vocalist Gia Ciambotti, with guitarists Dave Kushner, Val McCallum, Lyle Workman, and Blake Mills, bassist Bob Glaub, and drummers Don Heffington, Pete Thomas, and Brian Macleod also floating in and out of the band as need and schedules allow. Lead vocals are handled by a host of guests, some of whom are actors on the show, and have included Alison Mosshart, Joshua James, Billy Valentine, Audra Mae, Amos Lee, and Justin Warfield, among others. Three volumes of songs featured on the show have been released as soundtrack albums, one each in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and the band began working on a stand-alone album in 2014. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
