Biography
Born in London, the family moved to chocolate box picturesque Devon when Jo was an infant. Her musicality came initially via classical youth orchestras where Jo was a child bassoonist, before the allure of Aretha, Joplin, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill and others ignited a passion for R&B inspired vocals. But far from becoming yet another 'soul copyist', Harman was also much influenced by her Fathers diverse vinyl record collection from the 'golden age of music' which so informs her own diverse writing style. It was her Fathers untimely demise which further fuelled Harman's artistry, quickly rising through the world of soul, blues and more. She has now gained a reputation as an important and fiercely independent artist who has graced some of the most prestigious stages. Lauded by critics and public alike as being one of Britains finest, and certainly most artistically sincere, talents. She is far from prolific; her 2013 debut 'Dirt On My Tongue' and 2017 'People We Become' remain the mainstay of her international touring repertoire.
