Biography
A successful lyricist working in northeast Brazilian (xote, baião, frevo) and other genres (salsa, reggae, etc.), Nando Cordel has had his songs recorded by Jorge de Altinho ("Com Você Eu Vou," "É Só Dengo Dengo," and "Estrela do Amor," the latter with Dominguinhos), Maria Bethânia, Emílio Santiago, Zizi Possi, Netinho, Leandro e Leonardo, Fagner, Fafá de Belém, Amelinha, Guilherme Arantes, Nana Caymmi, Fábio Júnior, Roupa Nova, Martinho da Vila, Luiz Gonzaga, and Geraldo Azevedo. He recorded 18 solo albums through 2001 and has had 500 of his compositions recorded by diverse artists. He also had songs included in nationwide soap operas like Roque Santeiro, Tieta, Pedra Sobre Pedra, Sexo dos Anjos, A Indomada, and Tropicaliente. With Dominguinhos, Cordel penned pieces like "Gostoso Demais," "Faz de Mim," and "Isso Aqui Tá Bom Demais." The duo's first production, "De Volta Pro Meu Aconchego," was a smash with Elba Ramalho's rendition. She also recorded "Jogo de Cintura," "Doida," "Tem Que Ter Molejo," "Vem Ficar Comigo," and "Vê Estrelas." The singer and TV show host Xuxa had success with "Hoje É Dia de Folia" and "Brasil Argentina" (the latter in Argentina). Having performed around Brazil, Cordel also played in Italy, Germany, and France. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
