Biography
Josh Steinhart writes americana and alt country music that is both introspective and storytelling, influenced by musicians and bands like Jason Isbell, Gillian Welch, Bob Dylan, The Jayhawks and Dawes. Taking a page from Tom Petty, Josh’s songs are simple and classic, with easily memorable hooks and lyrics that inspire conversation. Born & raised in Brooklyn, Josh honed his craft writing and performing at such venues as The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall and Tribeca Blues, and teaching music in NYC Public High Schools. He is currently getting a taste of the midwest, having relocated to the Detroit area in 2018. His solo album, Howlin' At The Moon was released in February of 2019, and features musicians who have played with Ingrid Michaelson, Elle King, A Great Big World and The Lone Bellow. Josh himself is a former member of the New York City based bands Steelgrass and The Buffalo 24. Josh released the follow up to Howlin' At The Moon, a single entitled Before The Morning with Annie Bacon of Annie Bacon & Her Oshen in July 2021 Josh is currently a member of the Detroit based band The Tread Lightlies
