Biography
Many incredible singer-songwriters come from the streets. Multi-talented Daniel Docherty (28) from Glasgow is one of those. We’re not talking about being streetwise but about growing up in public, mastering your skills while busking in the streets, parks and shopping arcades. Apart from his songs and his great vocal delivery, Docherty also deserves credit as a great instrumentalist. He's not just a singer-songwriter, he’s also a mean fingerpicker, a true virtuoso on his guitar. By his songwriting and guitar playing, it's obvious he’s a big fan of the late John Martyn and Australia’s Tommy Emmanuel. His breathtaking percussive guitar style is reminiscent of US guitarist Andy McKee. His label [PIAS] discovered him at the Eurosonic international showcase festival and instantly recognized his potential. The lowlands have quite a reputation as a test market anyway, it has served as launching platform for artists like Gavin James, Prince and Ben Howard to name a few. Daniel’s profile did rise quickly in the Netherlands and Europe, supporting popular artists like Calum Scott, Matt Simons, Racoon and HAEVN, resulting in a Dutch headline tour with many sold out shows. Daniel is clearly experienced performing live to crowds of all sizes, equally happy to play for a small crowd or a packed Carré Theatre in Amsterdam. The Ian Grimble-produced EP, mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios by Christian Wright, should further enhance his status. Daniel has a bright future ahead
