Biography
(‘Addict’) set for release in September, a documentary, the return of their own Mucky Weekender festival and even a charity wing walk, Barry Ashworth’s merry gang of outlaw reprobates are simply unstoppable. Dubbed ‘the hardest working man in showbiz’ by music industry peers, Barry has worked in music all his adult life. An Ibiza original who had his life changed by acid house, he started running club-nights in London and had soon formed a band, Deja Vu, who arrived during the Flowered Up/Happy Mondays ‘baggy’ era. ‘Addict’ also features mic skills from 2-Tone heroine Rhoda Dakar, stalwart MC Navigator, long-term collaborator Lindy Layton, foundation MCs the Ragga Twins, Natty Campbell, General Jah Mikey as well as permanent live vocalist of the past few years, Mr Seanie T. ‘Addict’ was released in October through Sunday Best Recordings. “9/10 It’s quite possibly the multi-racial collective’s strongest LP yet." - DJ Mag “This is one of the biggest records of the year. You won’t be able to get enough.” - Electronic Sound
