Biography
After 18 years, Freestylers have covered 360 degrees in the bass music genre, played the biggest festivals, the biggest clubs around the world and even the quintessentially British music show: Top Of The Pops. From being voted ‘Best Band’ by Muzik magazine in ’98 to touring with Lenny Kravitz on his American woman tour (requested by Lenny personally), rocking 30,000 at Glastonbury ’99, and performing at MTV’s Times Square millennium party, it’s safe to say these guys have had one big adventure so far. Aston and Matt started working together in the mid ‘90’s after discovering a mutual love of Hip-Hop, Electro and big beats. They’ve released 5 albums to date: ‘We Rock Hard’ & ‘Pressure Point’ (on legendary label Freskanova), ’Raw as F**K', ‘Adventures in Freestyle’ and more recently 'The Coming Storm’. Early hits included ‘B-Boy Stance’, ‘Ruffneck’ and ‘Warning’ which set the marker. The music evolved and so did the anthems, including: ‘Fasten Your Seatbelts and ‘Painkiller’ (2 collaborations with Pendulum), and global hits like 'Push Up’ and more recently ‘Cracks’ got them featured in many commercials & movies like the hugely successful Zoolander and Dude where’s my car. They’ve released a multitude of remixes and new singles on their own label ‘Mama’s Pie’ and they’re not slowing down! Their ever eclectic style and renegade approach to production changes constantly and 2019 will be no different. With a brand new album on the horizon, Freestylers are here to stay!
