Biography
Born in Czechoslovakia in 1971, Michal Hruza got his start in the world of pop/rock when he joined his first band in school in 1986. Eventually, that faded, but Hruza kept on, forming the band Bram-Bory in 1990. The band, a punk rock outfit, played a few shows before Hruza moved on to a group called 51st Chvile in 1992. That group went on to make appearances on tours and in festivals, but was shifting direction, and by 1993 Hruza went his own way. After a brief stint as a member of the group Anachronic, Hruza formed the more successful Ready Kirken in 1996. The group went on to modest success, opening up for Czech rock band Chinaski and recording a number of albums. Internal tensions were rife, and a new version of the band had to be recast in 2000. Unfortunately, problems internally struck the new version of the band, and by 2005, Michal Hruza was exploring new opportunities. His first big break came with the commission of his songwriting talent for the winner of the inaugural season of the Czech version of Pop Idol, a television reality talent show. 2006 would finally see the end of Ready Kirken upon his departure. In 2007, Michal Hruza released his first solo album, Bila Velryba. ~ Chris True, Rovi
