Biography
Chilean singer and songwriter Eduardo Gatti was born in 1949. Inspired by music icons such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Violeta Parra, Gatti took guitar lessons soon forming a band called the Clouds and later a new act named Apparition recording a "When a Man Loves a Woman" cover, released by RCA as a single. After travelling all over Europe, Eduardo Gatti returned to Chile joining a band called los Blops, playing along with Juan Contreras, Sergio Bezara, Julio Villalobos, and Juan Pablo Orrego. By that time, "Llos Momentos," a classic pop-folk ballad, was born. In 1970, Blops was released, followed by Blops ll and 1973's La Locomotora. By that time, the band broke up, temporarily coming back in 1978 as a duet formed by Gatti and Juan Pablo Orrego. In 1980, Eduardo Gatti started his solo career, releasing a self-titled album in 1982. That record gave him a second smash hit, a song called "Quiero Paz." A year later, Gatti ll came out, getting his song "Navegante" included in El Ultimo Grumete's soundtrack. In 1994, Eduardo Gatti was invited by Paul McCartney to open his concert at Santiago de Chile's Estadio Nacional. Gatti's greatest hits were compiled in the 1995 album De Momentos, Viajes y Navegantes. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
