Biography

Monkey and the Permavirgins is an online band formed from a tight-knit community of Discord servers and Instagram pages all focused on indie music. 
 Their first project arrived in early 2021, the cult classic “Monkey to Monkey”. It was a full album cover of Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest recorded live over discord. The delay and low fidelity of the discord call made for a cacophonous and intense atmosphere that had listeners hooked. The experience of the performances lay somewhere in the intersection of comedy, raw emotion, and fun. This sound came to be known as the genre “lofi indie gaycore”. 
 . Internet Folk Songs is a break from the norm. A handful of members came together to focus on making original music instead of covers. The ultimate goal being “warm cute monkey music”. The final result is a batch of short indie-folk and shoegaze tracks.
