Biography
In 2007, when she was just 12 years old, Bonnie Anderson won the inaugural season of Australia's Got Talent with her soulful takes on gospel and a cover of Beyonce's Dreamgirls anthem, "Listen." However, instead of immediately starting a solo career, the pop singer from Melbourne decided to just be a kid and hone her songwriting talents. She learned a little about the music industry while on tour as a backing vocalist for Scottish/Australian rock singer, Jimmy Barnes, but aside from that, she remained out of the spotlight. In 2012, she appeared on a cover of C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat" with fellow Australia's Got Talent alum Justice Crew. The following year, her first solo single, "Raise the Bar," was released. The sunny pop vibe of this debut gave way to a more adult dance-pop sound on 2014's follow-up, "Blackout," which channeled the spirit of Katy Perry's "Dark Horse." With darker synths and a highly stylized aesthetic, the track went platinum on the Aria charts. She went on to tour with U.K. pop singer Olly Murs. In 2016, she released "The Ones I Love," a '90s-house-inflected anthem, and the uplifting "Unbroken." ~ Neil Z. Yeung
