Biography
Sam Himself - New York's leading Fondue Western™ baritone and Switzerland's acting "King of Tears" (RTS) - shares sophomore album Never Let Me Go, his latest collaboration with producer Daniel Schlett (Iggy Pop, The War On Drugs) and mastering engineer Greg Calbi (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie). The two-time Swiss Music Award nominee’s new LP features drummer Chris Egan (Blood Orange; Solange) and bass player Josh Werner (Ghostface Killah; Lee "Scratch" Perry). In support of his new release, Sam Himself is currently on tour, with stops in New York, Berlin, Vienna and Zurich, after closing out last year together with the Symphony Orchestra Basel (CH). Three years ago, the onset of the pandemic left “Swiss-born, Gotham-bred” (SPIN) songwriter & performer Sam Koechlin stranded in Europe and unable to return to New York City, his chosen home of the past decade. Exile proved to be inspiring, however, for in 2021, Sam released his debut album, Power Ballads, a largely home-recorded yet “well-crafted set of atmospheric post-punk” (KEXP), to international acclaim. Sam Himself’s EP Slow Drugs (2020) - feat. vocalists Denitia and TEEN, as well as drummer Parker Kindred (Jeff Buckley; Elliott Smith) under the direction of Sam Himself's 'Second Beatle' Daniel Schlett - had previously earned the National Broadcasting Network's prestigious Best Talent Award. As featured by HBO MAX, SPIN, KEXP, KCRW, Under The Radar, The Wild Honey Pie Buzzsession and many more. — Big Hassle
