Biography

Ugress is cinematic electronica, created by Gisle Martens Meyer. He started out as the demoscene musician Gnosis in the 1990ies, releasing a series of music disks. Ugress dropped the first self-released vinyl back in 2000, and started touring. Then, breaking through with a gold-selling debut album Resound in 2002, Ugress toured actively throughout the 2000s. In their second decade in the 2010s, the project was less active touring, and worked more on films, television and videogames, releasing the Reminiscience album and a series of EPs with a "dark future" theme, which has been followed up in their later albums. Main artist Gisle Martens Meyer has evolved from Ugress into creating music for film, TV, video game and contemporary stage compositions, amongst them the critically acclaimed Pushwagner soundtrack, level music for SONY's blockbuster videogame Little Big Planet and NRK hit puppet show Kometkameratene - Musikken Fra Tv-Serien. In recent years the project also creates brand new scores to silent films like Häxan (Soundtrack) and Aelita - Queen Of Mars (Soundtrack) , performing them live in cinemas.
