Biography
“He successfully creates an atmosphere of hovering dread and corroded choral doom that calls to mind the ‘70s Italian horror scores of Piero Umiliani, Fabio Frizzi y Piero Piccioni” — Andrew Male (Mojo Magazine). ”Néboa” original soundtrack featured in Mojo Magazine: It is a such a great honor for Remate to be part of this outstanding selection of musicians according to one of the most prestigious magazine, that included these previous years The Haxan Cloak, Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Michael Abels or Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow. Remate is a Musician Composer & Performer with a classical formation: Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, UK. He has released 15 albums over the years. He wrote the original score to ORSON WELLES’ “lost” film Too Much Johnson, and he has composed several works for ISABEL COIXET, recently the soundtrack to The Spirit Of Painting (commission from Museo Del Prado), a documentary about the artist Cai Guo-Qiang. As a songwriter, he has been called “an off-kilter Sufjan Stevens” (THE SUNDAY TIMES). As a composer of film scores he operates somewhere between the minimalism of Terry Riley and La Monte Thorton Young, classical music, art-pop and ambient. He is currently mainly working in film and TV series.
