Biography
Guillermo Farré had been involved with music for quite some time -- both on his own and, since 2005, as a member of the indie pop group Mittens -- before he finally began releasing his solo recordings under the name Wild Honey. His self-titled debut EP, released in early 2008 on his homegrown label Lazy Records, showcased a set of quirky indie pop tunes whose whimsical instrumentation and playful lyrics, rooted in 1960s bubblegum and zaniness (i.e., bands like the Banana Splits, Harpers Bizarre, and Free Design), compared favorably to Giorgio Tuma and Sufjan Stevens. Encouraged by the EP's warm critical reception, Farré traveled all the way from Spain to Nashville in order to team up with producer Brad Jones (whose previous credits included albums by Josh Rouse and Matthew Sweet) on Wild Honey's debut long-player. That disc, Epic Handshakes and a Bear Hug, was released on Lazy Records in the fall of 2009. Plans were in the works for a 7" single on the Spanish indie pop label Elefant the following year. ~ TiVo Staff, Rovi
