Biography
Matthew Wilson, better known by his stage name Matty Wavez, is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from Northern Virginia. Matty’s musical style has been described as eclectic, and draws influences from rap, hip-hop, electropop, and R&b. His stage name (Matty) is a nickname that his mother gave him; which he decided to go by after her unexpected passing, combined with the word (Wavez) as his music is often considered to be “wavy”. Matty released his first project “What If” in 2018, which he recorded, mixed and mastered in his own home studio. Following a great reception, he has since released albums “No Love” and “Stoop Therapy” along with more than 20+ singles, and continues to release new music weekly. Matty’s genre-bending ability, and versatile flow have been heavily influenced by Drake, J. Cole, Russ, and Kanye west, to name a few.
