Sanjana illustrates universal emotions, cultivating a refuge for her listeners with an intimate blend of soulful vocals, indie-pop sincerity and alternative-influenced songwriting. She draws out the romantic from the mundane, divulging the vulnerabilities of everyday life that we all face but don’t always explore, from anxiety to platonic love to the importance of gratitude in young adulthood. "From Afar” is a genre-spanning character study of Sanjana and the world around her. Self-written and produced alongside longtime collaborator Daniel Martz, the sophomore EP highlights her versatility as a storyteller and attunement to interpersonal scenarios as she evolves into adulthood. Sanjana finds herself equally jaded about the state of the world and heartened by genuine human connection; on “Time Stops,” she savors solace from a loved one, while on “Too Much Noise,” she pushes against the societal pressure to succeed, and beyond. Driven by this unsolvable dissonance, she conjures up a cathartic soundscape that ranges from romantic harp to angsty electric guitar, grounded by her soulful vocal guidance.
