Music NL’s Alternative Artist of the Year in 2022, Swimming is a Math Rock trio comprised of prolific St. John’s musicians Liam Ryan, Jacob Cherwick & Nick Hunt. Combining elements of Emo and Post Hardcore, Swimming‘s sound is both nostalgic and refreshingly original. Since releasing a well-received four song EP in 2018, the group has performed at venues and festivals throughout Eastern Canada. Their debut LP, That’s OK, was released in October 2021 in partnership with Chillwavve Records. It has since been featured in editorial playlists from Spotify and Apple Music and received critical acclaim from Exclaim!, Uproxx and New Feeling, among other prominent music platforms. Swimming has been singled out for exploring themes of geopolitical abandonment and coming of age while leaving room for catchy hooks & nuanced musical arrangements.
