Biography
Teather’s music hopes to capture the cathartic impact of long nights at a club or a rave with poppy choruses that stick to you for days. Her production, reminiscent of techno, trance, and house music from the 90s, is complemented by dreamy vocals and emotive songwriting. Teather started making music during the 2020 lockdown, shortly after a survivalist phase in which she trained her lungs with long distance running and studied native plants to prepare for an inevitable escape to the woods. This survivalism was substituted for an equally obsessive period of learning to produce, write, and record. “Devotion Takes Its Toll,” explores Teather’s contemplations on devotion, its joy, and its pain. The 7-tracks run the gamut of genres, from bouncy synth-pop to experimental, basement club, with Teather’s insular production style and distinctive vocal tone making each track entirely her own. “Choosing to share your life with people opens you up to a world of higher highs and lower lows than life alone. Whether it be friendship or love, or family, Devotion Takes Its Toll and devotion gives its bounty.” Teather is currently based in Seattle, WA but born and raised in LA. She is an an insular artist: writing, composing, and producing all of her work. Teather's music is always vying to achieve the blissful junction between dance music genres and amazingly catchy pop songs.
