Biography
The married couple Carolin and Andreas Obieglo are behind the music of Carolin No. After several years in Berlin and the US, they have now chosen to live in the more laid back countryside of Central Germany, far away from the busy life of a metropolis. The music of the highly praised and repeatedly honored German songwriter/singer duo is marked by the unmistakably clear yet soft voice of Carolin Obieglo and the virtuosity of the multi-instrumentalist Andreas Obieglo, enhanced with the extraordinary compositions and sensitive arrangements of the immensely talented musicians that resists conformity and categorization. The duo took their name from Brian Wilson’s song “Carolin, no” that is part of the Beach-Boys Masterpiece “Pet Sounds.” Stylistically, they draw from the singer/songwriter tradition and show influences from Electro, Jazz, Blues, and Country. The couple plays with multifaceted variety: electronic soundscapes emerge from acoustic slide guitars, spherical textures mingle with concrete beats. Songs of minimalist grace stand next to those enriched with the sounds of Blues and Gospels. Elegance is paired with simplicity, melancholy with vitality, and every tone glimmers with the love of music.
