Biography
A Norwegian duo writing, performing and recording dark folk and neofolk music. It all started in 2006 when Cecilie Langlie and Tom Simonsen were commissioned by the Skagestad family to turn three poems by the late Norwegian author Tormod Skagestad into music. The three poems were Myrulla, Havnatt and Prammen from the collection of poems entitled Havdøgn. It was intended to be a one-time thing. Fast forward to the autumn of 2009. Cecilie and Tom were asked by the German label Prophecy Productions to write an exclusive piece of music for a compilation album entitled Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings. This resulted in the now classic Havnatt track named Dagen Og Natta. The process also inspired Cecilie and Tom to start writing more Havnatt material. Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings was released on October 29th, 2010. After joining the Secret Quarters Records label, Havnatt released their EP Havdøgn on February 15th, 2012. This release contained completely remixed and remastered versions of the tracks Myrulla, Havnatt and Prammen. In addition, the release also contained two completely new tracks that gave a hint of the future direction of Havnatt. Since then Havnatt have released four full-length albums and a number of singles. Gammal Bygd is the latest full-length album, released on Twosday, 2022. Most recently, Havnatt released the single Japansk Kirsebærtre on 22 March 2022, with more singles likely on the way this year.
