Biography
With their debut mini CD "Valg" (2004) and their first album "Vergessene Pfade" (2006), Neun Welten from Leipzig counted among the most promising newcomers of the international Dark Folk scene and ranked among the protagonists of the genre with "Destrunken" (2009). With their newest album "The Sea I'm Diving In" (released July 2017) Neun Welten take an adventurous musical shift. Previously, the compositions were predominantly instrumental and acoustical. But now the new songs are not only added with captivating vocals, but also, in addition to the already rich instrumentation for the first time, they use post rock oriented electric guitars. Neun Welten enchant the listener with cinematic storytelling that blends elements of neofolk and post rock with a film score focus. Whether dark-driving or idyllic, powerful or mystical, Neun Welten move the listener effortlessly into their own magical realm. Neun Welten consist of Meinolf Müller (guitar, vocals), David Zaubitzer (guitar, cello) and Aline Deinert (violin, viola, vocals), who also plays in bands like Empyrium, Haggard and Die Kammer. Recently, Giacomo Astorri (bass), who also plays with Haggard, and Michael Zerjeski (drums), who once played with Wandar, also belong to Neun Welten.
