Biography
Latín-Grammy Award Winner Franz Halász began his international career winning first prizes at Andrés Segovia Competition in Spain and Seto-Ohashi International Competition in Japan. His New York début was described as ‘simply electrifying!’ in Soundboard Magazine and his first solo CD with Spanish music was praised as unsurpassed, even superior then the legendary Segovia. Ever since he has been performing across the world as a regular guest at major festivals and events sharing the stage with Siegfried Jerusalem, Patrick Gallois, Alban Gerhard, Isabelle Faust, Boris Pergamenshikov, Robert Aitken and with orchestras as European Chamberorchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta and Polnish Chamberorchestra. His acclaimed discography includes the complete guitar music by J.S.Bach,L.v.Beethoven,Joaquin Turina, Toru Takemitsu, Hans Werner Henze, Sainz de la Maza, Frederic Mompou and Sofia Gubaidulina. His CD „Alma Brasileira“ was awarded with the Latin GRAMMY as Best Classical Album. Since 2010 Franz Halász is holding the first ever cathedra for guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
