Biography
Hailing from Alief, TX on the Southwest side of Houston, Senegalese native Papa Gueye aka Papa G or Squalla is a lifelong student of music and art. By combining his love of classic hip-hop with an unwavering lyrical bravado and talent to match, Squalla has created a sound of his own. Squalla (formerly known as Papa G) released his debut album “Anxiety” in 2016. Since that time he has built a fanbase on account of not only his music but his mind-blowing live performances. With features on major media outlets – from Houston Press to SayCheese TV, HipHop Weekly and more, “Anxiety” as well as his ongoing freestyle series’ Squalla Saturdays, has landed Squalla at tables with major label executives and on tracks with acclaimed producers such as Zaytoven and Honorable C-Note. Squalla has also been featured on records alongside legendary rappers Devin the Dude and King Los, among others. And he did it all on his own. Without a machine or budget to speak of, Squalla has been making waves as a force, himself. While many of Squalla’s influences are pioneers in their industry such as Michael Jackson and Lil Wayne, and more recently mentors like Fre$h and MC Beezy, Squalla credits his creative inspiration mainly to his envorinment, turning life’s experiences into music. Call him Squalla, or Papa G. Either way this young southern artist residing on the west coast has no plans of slowing down; so catch up.
